Stewie’s Buoys

About 3 months ago I was sitting in one of my favorite waterfront bars and while looking up at the cieling I had an idea. I was looking at a string of crab trap buoys and thought I could make a nice line of nautical jewlery with this look. The next several days I researched materials on the internet to make this idea come to life. I started out looking for small styrofoam balls that I could turn into buoys but had little luck finding the right sizes. I next looked for plastic beads and although I had more success finding something that would work I still was not satisfied. I then came across wood beads that I thought would work perfect and Stewie’s Buoys was created.

I made several different styles at first trying different things and materials for the string. The first batch was made out of a hemp rope and I debuted them at the Cortez Commerical Fishing Festival in February. I sold several and gave away some as a marketing strategy and after the weekend I had made enough to buy the materials and pay for my food and beer for the weekend. YEAH!

Here is a picture of one of the first necklaces I made…

I have made many improvements to the product since that first weekend and now have many up on E-Bay for sale. I just started a new flavor thanks to my good buddy Steve with a Rasta flair.
